Dyson DC14 Animal Upright Vacuum Cleaner Review
The Dyson DC14 Animal Vacuum is designed for those people who love their pets and make their home a pet friendly environment. The Dyson DC14 Animal features cyclone technology which ensures that cleaning with this vacuum is efficient and thorough with no loss in suction, clogging with hair or debris. The great thing about this vacuum is that it incorporates many of the qualities of the Dyson All Floors vacuum and as such is suitable on all floor surfaces. The unit has an advanced motorized brush bar which enables thorough removal of pet hair but it can also be turned off to ensure there is no damage to precious floor surfaces such as rugs and laminate flooring. This model has an in-built filter which removes dirt and dust particles all the way down to 0.1 micron, it can be washed and cleaned to suit.
As with the majority of the vacuum range the Dyson DC14 Animal vacuum has an extra long, 17 ft telescope extension to enable you to access those harder to clean areas such as the stairs. In addition to this the Dyson’s mini turbine head makes easy work of removing pet hair from those smaller spaces such as furniture upholstery, the car seats, and the wand attachment will allow you to reach into those harder to reach places such as under sofas, beds and cabinets. Again, as with most Dyson models the Dyson DC14 Animal delivers a constant downstream air force which not only prevents surfaces such as upholstery and curtains from becoming stuck to the vacuum with suction but it also blasts out dirt and grime making it easier to remove that hard warn in pet hair and dirt.
The Dyson DC14 Animal vacuum has a 5/7 gallon container which empties quickly and easily without having to get any of the dust near you, it has a simple trigger mechanism which you pull and the canister is released for you to empty. In addition up to 150 times less dirt and dust is released from the vacuum during cleaning and emptying thanks to the in-built HEPA filter, making the vacuum more friendly to allergy and asthma sufferers.

| Don't Buy This Vacuum !!! Why spend a ton of money on Mediocrity ? |

| We spent over $500 for our Dyson vacuum and straight out of the box it performed average. We checked everything according to the manual, called customer service and after doing everything we could do to "see how powerful" and "wonderful" their technology was we realized we just spent $565 on mediocrity. 6 months later we noticed the hose had a hole in it due to the fact that we were taking the extension out and actually using it but let's face it we only use the vacuum about twice a week in our house so we were cleaning the Mall of America every day . They were nice enough to send us another one for free (we did appreciate that a lot) so we were happy about our initial experience with their customer service. The only problem is it is a design flaw. Every six months we have to get a new hose from them as they said they would only replace the first hose ($90.00). We are now on our third hose so we if add the $270 in hoses to a $565 vacuum the math is quite simple. We spent $835.00 on a vacuum that on a scale from 1 to 10 I would give a 6. Since I have spent $835 on a vacuum my rating now changes to a 2 because it is mediocre and costs way too much money. We don't mind investing in equipment for inside or outside our home that is the best (we usually always buy the best because it lasts the longest) but this falls under the category of just throwing our money away. They have great marketing, hopefully one day their product will match their marketing. Save your money and buy a $250 vacuum and replace it every 1 to 2 years as it will be better and cheaper. |

| The hose that is used for stairs pulls back in to a recoiled position when the machine is turned on making you fight with both hands to manipulate it. So much so, it kinks the hose at the attachment joint to the wand and bends the wire (used to keep the hose open) and this is when making any normal angle used to do stairs. I'm sure its going to damage the connection. Did they try it out on stairs?
And its impossible to lift this monster (its not light btw) while going up or down stairs. Its made for someone over 7 feet tall! Just look at the height and position of the handle, its already up above a normal waist. I'm a 5'11, 37 year old man and I have to lift it vertically straight up in the air with my arm straightened out to get it up and down stairs. Not in a normal lifting action-bent at the elbows (like lifting a luggage case). Did they actually try to carry the thing up and down stairs? The wheels are hard plastic, narrow and small making them hard to push over floor borders such as between installed carpet and hard wood floors (like from the dining room to the kitchen). Tell me they drove the thing around a normal house? After a short use the electrical plug and cord is verry warm meaning one of two things. 1. The cord is not rated for the amount of juice the thing pulls (safety). 2. The motor is working too hard to do its job (It will wear out sooner than later). The cord is nice and long but not too long (so its not hard to work with). Mechanically it is superbly designed. It does perform magnificently, great suction, no bags, no messy cleanup to empty the canister. If it wasn't such a bear to use physically, it would be the only vacuum on the market that makes sense to have. And no you cant have mine I don't hate it that much. |
